For a long time the Brazilian church have experienced a huge growth. From that came the big temples, several meetings, activities, great services, music, wonderful preaching, space in the media and popularity. Harmfully, this pushed the leadership to the secularism. The growth took the place of honor and became the main link between the churches. The amount of people who come to the service became the focus and the standard to evaluate the success of a ministry. The structure is denominational, the pastoral system is professional, governed by business rules, of expansionist vision, with human hierarchy, of glory and exaltation to self.
In practice we found a crisis of content – shallow preaching, human-centered gospel focused on money; empty faith and a lack of interest to find out if whatever it has been preached is genuine or false; caring too much for the formalities, leaving no space for the Holy Ghost and for what’s spontaneous. We found a church that draws attention to itself with all the news, talented people, full of activities and religious events, a church with no sign of humbleness. This is men taking over.
The time has come when the Christians become worn out by the way they live their lives. God is about to do something with the Church. And what is that? There are no doubts that God is sending a new time for His People. We live days of renovation, we’re about to have big changes. The Church of the future will not be like it is today.
We need prophets! Men advised by God, not only to speak of the future, but before that, to show how God’s people have got many things wrong. We need priests! A cry, prayer and tears of a people restless about the church’s current situation and capable of giving their privileges in for the restoration of all God’s people.
Oh God, give us prophets! Rise a generation of priests!
